All our deck coatings are 100% waterproof, providing you with peace of mind. The waterproof elastomeric deck coating we use expands and contracts with your deck, preventing it from cracking.
Keep in mind that waterproof deck coatings take time to cure and are done in layers. Each layer must cure before another layer is applied. Every membrane sheet is different; we recommend following the instructions provided by the manufacturer before you get started.
It takes at least a week for each membrane sheet to cure since the concrete continues to dry for days after it’s been poured. Water vapor seeps out of the concrete, preventing the waterproof material from bonding. Liquid membranes are different from sheet membranes and can take upwards of two weeks or more to dry.
Not waiting for the sheet or liquid membranes to bond can cause foundational issues later on, so it’s best to allow the membranes to dry first. While this requires patience on your part, it will be worth it, in the long run, to have a waterproof coating on your deck that allows it to stand the test of time. You can host your family, entertain guests, and enjoy your deck without worrying about what might happen to it.
